 Shalira Spa® is a progressive consultancy company with extensive management and training expertise that covers all aspects of the spa industry. Established primarily to partner hotel or resort spa enterprises and treatment centres, as well as independent facilities, Shalira Spa® aims to take the tropical spa experience to luxurious new heights.

Based in Bali, the healing and beauty capital of South East Asia, Shalira Spa® currently operates two distinct centres that have been scrupulously designed to convey the artistic culture and genuine hospitality of the island and its people. The Balinese spa industry has a reputation for an uncompromising level of personal care and treatment precision that regional competitors find difficult to emulate. Shalira Spa® unveils the secret success of the tropical spa by helping partners recreate the ambience and capabilities for head to toe indulgence.

 

The Brand

The name ‘Shalira’ derives from the Javanese word ‘salira’, which encompasses a number of expressions closely associated with personal wellness. The term can be used to describe behaviour, attitude, spirit or inner feelings. Many aspects of today’s spa industry can be traced back to the healing and beauty rituals of ancient Java. These wisdoms were later introduced to Bali during the mass exodus of royals and artisans fleeing from the mainland of the Majapahit Empire. Traditional wellness is the foundation for the Bali’s thriving spa industry and Shalira Spa® was inspired by this extraordinary legacy.

 Shalira Spa® personifies tropical indulgence and a union of two bold colours was chosen specifically to express the company’s identity. The dynamic shade of blue visible in the lapis lazuli stone was adopted by Shalira Spa®, along with the concept of healing therapies utilizing precious stones. Paying homage to Shalira Spa®’s roots in Bali, lazuli blue is complemented by warm orange to symbolise the island’s gracious hospitality that nurtures the spirit and energizes the soul. 

The Shalira brand is about embracing the future and looking beyond the pre-existing perimeters of the industry. Shalira Spa® injects originality and international business savvy into every new enterprise.

Shalira Spa® was established with the vision to take the concept of the tropical spa to a new level of existence and transcend international barriers. The company’s primary objective is to deliver memorable spa experiences that inspire the senses and reflect the unique attributes of each and every destination. Generating lucrative profit margins through innovative treatments and products is foremost.

 Shalira Spa® is projecting for regional expansion and seeking partnerships in the Middle East and Australasia with the aim to develop luxury spas that respect local environments and cultural values. Shalira Spa®’s dedicated approach towards the concept of tropical wellness is subtly reflected in every treatment experienced.

The Executives

The Shalira Spa® executive team is composed of four highly talented individuals who have joined forces to inject a new lease of life into the tropical spa industry. Each member brings diverse skills and knowledge that has strengthened the team:

Jean Philippe Petit – Managing Director

Jean Philippe, better known as JP, graduated from a reputable Hotel & Tourism Institute in the French town of Strasbourg. He went on to establish himself professionally with a hospitality career spanning many years in 5 star hotels, Relais & Chateaux and Michelin Star rated establishments across Europe and Asia. He currently operates several business subsidiaries in Bali and has focused exclusively on spa management since 2001.


Agnes Zlotek  – Consultant 

Agnes is a French national based in Bali and a graduate from the prestigious "Ecole Professionelle Suisse Pour Restaurateurs Et Hoteliers" Institute of Switzerland. She spent almost 17 years of her career working in hotels in Belgium, Australia and Indonesia before taking time out to pursue her own business interests in 2000. Agnes has a natural flair for financial management and an eye for aesthetic detail. A self acknowledged perfectionist, she brings a wealth of experience to the Shalira Spa team.

 

Mila Abdullah – Director of Operations

Jamilah, also known as Mila, has worked exclusively in the wellness industry since graduating from the Institute of Health & Sport Education. Mila specialized in Yoga and Aerobic instruction and was also a Fitness Club Manager before choosing to become a spa professional. Assignments in spa destinations such as Malaysia, Turkey, Poland, PNG, Dubai and China have helped shape her highly successful career. Mila's role at Shalira Spa is to ensure that pre-conceived standards and consistency is maintained at all times. This applies to the quality of services, products and staffing. 

 

Ni Ketut Antari – Assistant Director of Operations

Tari initially started her spa career as an Apprentice Receptionist where she     worked her way through the hierarchy of spa operations over the course of several years to become a manager. She has a solid understanding of the industry and impeccable communication skills that have enabled her to tutor others. Her areas of expertise incorporate signature Balinese rituals, Indian Ayurveda healing treatments, Thai massage, Flotation WatSu techniques and Yoga. At Shalira Spa, Tari is responsible for the recruitment and training of motivated individuals to ensure that they deliver treatments with dedication and care.
